Ford, Alibaba Remain Lodged in Thursday’s 52-Week Low Club

October 11, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 513 equities making new 52-week lows in Thursday’s session. On the NYSE decliners led advancers by about 3.5 to 1, and on the Nasdaq, decliners led advancers by about 2.31 to 1.

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) traded down about 0.6% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $8.76 after closing Wednesday at $8.82. The stock’s 52-week high is $13.48. Volume was about 20% above the daily average of around 41.9 million shares. The company announced its regular dividend for the fourth quarter and shares are on track for a gain of about 0.8%. At the current share price, Ford’s $0.15 per share quarterly dividend offers a yield of 6.58%.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE: BABA) dropped about 2.3% Thursday to set a new 52-week low of $35.14. Shares closed at $138.29 on Wednesday and the stock’s 52-week high is $211.70. Volume was 30% above the daily average of around 22.6 million. The company had no specific news and shares are on their way to closing about 1% higher for the day.

Snap Inc. (NYSE: SNAP) traded down about 1.8% Thursday to set a new 52-week low of $6.47 after closing at $6.59 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $21.22. Volume was nearly 20% higher than the daily average of around 22.8 million. The company had no specific news and traded more than 3% shortly before the closing bell..

Applied Materials Inc. (NASDAQ: AMAT) traded down about 4.5% Thursday and posted a new 52-week low of $32.88 after closing Wednesday at $34.43. The stock’s 52-week high is $62.40. Volume was about more than double the daily average of around 12 million. The company had no specific news.
