American is home to a vast territory, and the income of its citizens covers a wide range from extreme poverty to opulent wealth.

But what areas of the country are the most impoverished?

Using the US Census Bureau’s American Community Survey metro area-level data on median household income, additional income, and population data, 24/7 Wall St. identified the poorest city in every state.

Let’s take a closer look.
