Technology is developing at a fast pace, and the consumer world doesn’t wait around. It seems like there is a new product — some of them even invented by kids — every day. Phones become too old after a couple of years on the market; sometimes you can’t even buy devices that are compatible with them.

It wasn’t always like this. Older personal gadgets were around for decades. (Some of the oldest things on Earth still function today actually.) All of their functions are now combined in smartphones.
