San Pedro Sula is located in the northwestern part of the Central American country of Honduras. It is the only city in Honduras to make the list. San Pedro Sula had the highest homicide rate in the world in 2013 and 2014, the second highest in 2015, and third in 2016. In each of those years, the homicide rate was at least double its 2019 rate of 55.2 murders per 100,000 residents.
