How Much Home You Can Buy for 200K in Every State

Methodology:

To determine how much home you can buy for $200,000 in every state, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed data on median square footage by home value from real estate database company Zillow. Zillow’s data on the median square footage of a $200,000 home reflects the median square footage for all homes with a value between $190,000 and $210,000 and is current as of March 2021.

Data by state on median square footage for all home values also came from Zillow and is current as of March 2021. Supplemental data on median household income, median home value, and median number of rooms for all homes in a state came from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2019 American Community Survey and are one-year estimates.
