Which 3D Printing Stocks Are Tempting Short Sellers

Short interest dropped during the two-week reporting period ending April 13 on two of four 3D printing stocks we follow. Trading action also slowed down on all four stocks.

Short interest in 3D Systems Corp. (NYSE: DDD) slipped by 2.1% to 34.62 million shares. Some 31.6% of the company’s float was short. Days to cover rose from 16 to 22. In the two-week short interest period, the share price rose by 4.2%. The stock’s 52-week trading range is $7.92 to $23.70, and shares closed at $11.21 on Tuesday, down about 2.3% on the day.

Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) saw short interest rise by 6.1% in the first two weeks of April to about 8.44 million shares, or 16.8% of the company’s float. Days to cover rose from 14 to 15. The share price rose by about 2.8% in the two-week period, and the stock closed at $20.65 on Tuesday, down about 2.5% on the day, in a 52-week range of $18.00 to $30.88.

Short interest in The ExOne Co. (NASDAQ: XONE) rose by 4.6% to 2.27 million shares. About 23.3% of the company’s shares were short. ExOne’s share price rose by about 0.4% in the two weeks ending April 13. The stock’s 52-week range is $6.72 to $14.43, and shares closed at $7.47 on Tuesday, down about 1.5% for the day. Days to cover rose from 13 to 22.

Short interest in Voxeljet A.G. (NYSE: VJET) decreased by 5.9% to 449,358 American depositary shares, with days to cover rising from 12 to 13. Voxeljet fell by about 8.3% for the two-week period and closed at $3.27 on Tuesday, up about 0.6% for the day, in a 52-week range of $3.07 to $6.37.
