Short Interest in 3D Printing Stocks Continues to Slide

Short interest fell during the two-week reporting period ending June 29 on all four 3D printing stocks we follow. Trading action also slowed down on all four stocks

Short interest in 3D Systems Corp. (NYSE: DDD) fell by 2.7% to 32.44 million shares. Some 29.6% of the company’s float was short. Days to cover fell from 22 to 14. In the two-week short interest period, the share price fell by 3.4%. The stock’s 52-week trading range is $7.92 to $19.06, and shares closed at $14.90 on Wednesday, up about 1.2% on the day.

Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) saw short interest dip by 0.6% in the last two weeks of June to about 9.34 million shares, or 18.6% of the company’s float. Days to cover dropped from 18 to 14. The share price slipped by 1.5% in the two weeks, and the stock closed at $20.18 on Wednesday, up about 1% on the day, in a 52-week range of $17.17 to $25.35.

Short interest in ExOne Co. (NASDAQ: XONE) fell by 3.9% to 2.75 million shares. About 28.2% of the company’s shares were short. ExOne’s share price rose by about 4.7% in the short interest period. The stock’s 52-week range is $6.16 to $12.50, and shares closed at $7.22 on Wednesday, down about 3.6% for the day. Days to cover fell from 17 to seven.

Short interest in Voxeljet A.G. (NYSE: VJET) decreased by 3.8% to 432,324 American depositary shares, with days to cover rising from 12 to 26. They fell by about 4% for the two-week period and closed at $3.66 on Wednesday, up about 2.5% for the day in a 52-week range of $3.07 to $6.37.
