The 52-Week Low Club for Thursday

February 4, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 106 equities making new 52-week lows today.

GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) dropped nearly 16% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low at $9.02 after closing at $10.71 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $65.49. Share volume totaled more than 20 million shares compared with the daily average of around 8 million shares traded. The action camera maker reported weak results after markets closed Wednesday and took a downgrade to neutral from two research firms.

Kohl’s Corp. (NYSE: KSS) posted a new 52-week low on Thursday. Shares traded at a low of $40.95, down about 20%, after closing at $51.13 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $79.60. Volume of about 20 million represented a jump of more than four times the daily average of around 4.4 million shares. The retail chain operator lowered its guidance and took a downgrade from one analyst today.

MetLife Inc. (NYSE: MET) fell by about 6.4% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $39.27 against a high of $58.23. The stock closed at $41.95 on Wednesday night. Volume rose to around 14 million, nearly double the daily average of about 7.4 million shares traded. The insurer missed estimates when it reported earnings on Wednesday night.

Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: MPC) dropped about 8.1% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $34.16 against a 52-week high of $60.38. The stock closed at $37.20 on Wednesday night. Volume reached about 14 million shares, more than double the stock’s daily average volume of around 5.8million. The refining company reported better-than-expected earnings this morning, but its pipeline MLP distribution is the concern going forward.
