August 3, 2017 by Chris LangeAugust 3, 2017: The S&P 500 closed down 0.2% at 2,472.08. The DJIA closed relatively flat at 22,024.80 but still a record close. Separately, the Nasdaq closed down 0.35% at 6,340.34.
The U.S. broad markets took a step back on Thursday after the Dow hit a new all-time high. However, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq dropped in the meantime. Crude oil fell as well leading to oil & gas stocks crumbling in Thursday’s session. Utilities and industrials were relatively positive in the session but that was about it. The rest of the S&P 500 was mixed or down on the day.
Crude oil was last seen down 1.5% at $48.86, taking a step back.
Gold was down 0.2% at $1,269.00.
