Short Interest in 3D Printing Stocks Wanes

Short interest rose during the two-week reporting period ending June 15 on three of four 3D printing stocks we follow. Trading action also slowed down on three of the four stocks

Short interest in 3D Systems Corp. (NYSE: DDD) fell by 1% to 34 million shares. Some 31.1% of the company’s float was short. Days to cover rose from rose from six to 22. In the two-week short interest period, the share price jumped by 15.3%. The stock’s 52-week trading range is $7.92 to $21.047, and shares closed at $14.04 on Tuesday, up about 0.2% on the day.

Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) saw short interest rise by 1% in the first two weeks of June to about 9.4 million shares, or 19.2% of the company’s float. Days to cover rose from seven to 18. The share price rose by about 6.3% in the two-week period, and the stock closed at $19.05 on Tuesday, up about 0.7% on the day, in a 52-week range of $17.17 to $25.35.

Short interest in ExOne Co. (NASDAQ: XONE) rose by 7% to 2.86 million shares. About 29.1% of the company’s shares were short. ExOne’s share price fell by about 0.6% in the two weeks ending June 15. The stock’s 52-week range is $6.16 to $13.00, and shares closed at $7.50 on Tuesday, up about 6.7% for the day. Days to cover rose from 16 to 17.

Short interest in Voxeljet A.G. (NYSE: VJET) increased by 5% to 461,100 American depositary shares, with days to cover falling from 16 to 12. Voxeljet rose by about 1.4% for the two-week period and closed at $3.60 on Tuesday, up about 0.9% for the day in a 52-week range of $3.07 to $6.37.
