Google’s 360-degree ride to the uncanny valley (video)

January 9, 2019 by Steven M. Peters

What they’re saying on YouTube about the Google Assistant 360° Tour at CES 2019:

  • Jamie Simon: Fantastic
  • Leonid Romanov: Creepy
  • marsgodofwarx:  I wanna meet that dad.
  • The Squeegee: Anyone else find this… disturbing?
  • RideAllNight: That was simply awesome. Hopefully this becomes a permanent installation somewhere.
  • mark hughes:  I really thought this was a parody for at least a couple of minutes. I can’t believe anyone seriously thought this would be a good idea

My take: You can thank Ben Thompson for recommending the ride, which I gather is some sort of tour de force. Thompson ($) kind of liked it. John Gruber did not.
