Lennox beat earnings by a hair but slashed full-year profit guidance as a booming commercial business swinging 24% growth couldn't offset a 7% residential collapse, forcing the HVAC company to pull down its EPS outlook to $23.00-$24.00 from $23.50-$25.00.

Lennox International reported Q2 2026 earnings per share of $7.72, edging past the consensus estimate of roughly $7.70 by about a quarter of a percent. Revenue came in at $1.545 billion, which was just under the $1.564 billion analysts had expected — a miss of about 1.2%. The slight top-line shortfall reflects the uneven picture across the company's two main business lines.

The commercial segment delivered standout growth of 24%, but that momentum was not enough to compensate for a sharp 7% decline in the residential business. That residential weakness is the key driver behind Lennox's decision to lower its full-year EPS guidance to a range of $23.00–$24.00, down from the prior range of $23.50–$25.00. The midpoint of the new range is roughly $1 below where the company was guiding investors just a quarter ago.

Looking at the recent revenue trend, Q2 2026's $1.545 billion is the highest quarterly figure in the last nine reported periods, edging out Q2 2025's $1.501 billion and Q3 2024's $1.498 billion. That makes the guidance cut more notable — even at peak seasonal revenue, the residential drag is weighing heavily enough on margins and mix that Lennox felt compelled to reset expectations for the back half of the year.
