VW continues to gain ground in the only major auto market in the world where its does not have a significant presence–the US.
December auto sales for VW rose 36% to 32,505, only about one-third of Chrysler’s sales for the same month. VW said the year 2011 was, nonetheless, its best since 2002. For 2011, total sales were 324,402. Sales improvements were helped by the popularity of the company’s Passat sedan
