Gallup released data which appears to buttress data from the Conference Board and private economists. Holiday sales also support a rise in consumer activity

Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index improved to -27 last week, continuing the steady improvement in the index seen since the summer, when it fell below -50. Gains in the economic outlook component of the index are outpacing those in ratings of current conditions.

Americans’ economic confidence is now the most positive Gallup has measured since May 2011, and is approaching the -20 level recorded a year ago.
