The government of India will allow foreign companies to operate in the world’s second largest nation. This opens the door for firms like Starbucks and Ikea.

The government ratified a Nov. 24 cabinet decision to raise the ownership limit to 100 percent from 51 percent for single- brand, Trade Minister Anand Sharma said in a statement yesterday
The decision does not apply to large retail chains which include Walmart which has been trying to enter the market for years
