The ultra fast high speed wireless network company Lightsquared has probably had its deployment plans blocked again. Lightsquared is running out of time, as it tries to compete with other wireless services, and money, as its controlling shareholders financial problems widen. The Department of Defense wrote the FCC and said that the Lightsquared spectrum would interfere with some GDP signals.
In the letter, D o D claims
Grant of the Lightsquared waiver would create a new interference environment and it is incumbent upon the FCC to deal with the resulting interference issues before any interference occurs
Harbinger Capital, the largest shareholder, and Philip Falcone, its head, are likely to be sued over securities fraud by the government.
At this point, it appears Lightsquared is unlikely to survive
