Olympus has been rocked by an accounting scandal and its ability to survive has been called into question. The company has sued past management and board members for compensation already paid. A fraud investigation is already underway.
Past rumors were that Samsung might step in.
Japan’s Fujifilm Holdings said on Wednesday it is considering supporting scandal-hit endoscope maker Olympus Corp although neither side looks likely to move quickly on an equity alliance that Olympus needs to shore up its finances.
