Online research firm Comscore reports that Facebook has 27.9% of the US display ad market, up from 21% in 2010. Yahoo! had 11% of the market, followed by Google and Microsoft at 5% each.

Facebook continues to suck the oxygen out of the display market at a time when Yahoo! and other struggle to increase revenue.

The Facebook news is bad for competitors for another reason. It is widely believed that Facebook charges less on a per thousand basis than online portals do. As the portals lower rates to be competitive, their margins fall.
