August 14, 2014: Stocks making new 52-week lows today included the following four firms.

Energy XXI (Bermuda) Ltd. (NASDAQ: EXXI) saw shares fall 20% to a new 52-week low of $15.72 after announcing quarterly results Thursday morning. The company’s full fiscal year profit was far below the consensus estimate.

Noodles & Co. (NASDAQ: NDLS) dropped more than 22% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $19.54. The stock’s 52-week high is $49.75. The company’s earnings and revenues were not up to consensus estimates and the restaurant chain expects same-store sales to remain flat for the rest of 2014.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. (NASDAQ: RRGB) dropped almost 22% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $50.50. Volume is about 20-times the daily average of about 150,000 shares traded, and the stock’s 52-week high is $86.83. Unless a restaurant chain is named Chipotle, chances are very high that earnings results will be disappointing.

Parsley Energy Inc. (NYSE: PE) dropped about 8% to post a new post-IPO low of $19.29 in the late afternoon today. After a successful IPO in late June and a share price rise to a high of $25.70, the stock began sinking early this month and hasn’t slowed down much yet.
