The 52-Week Low Club for Monday

December 14, 2015: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 505 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX) dropped about 6.1% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $6.48 against a 52-week high of $23.97. The stock closed at $6.90 on Friday night. Volume topped 45 million shares, nearly 20% higher than the daily average of around 38 million shares traded. The miner and oil & gas producer had no specific news today, but the drop in energy and metal prices continues to plague the company.

Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE: SWN) slipped about 10.5% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $5.28 against a high of $31.49. The stock closed at $5.90 on Friday night. Volume was about more than double the daily average of around 14 million shares traded. The energy company had no specific news either today, but lower crude oil prices are pounding the stock.

Encana Corp. (NYSE: ECA) posted a new low on Monday. Shares dropped about 10.1% to a low of $5.43 from Friday’s closing price of $6.04. The stock’s 52-week high is $14.73. Volume was about double the daily average of around 11 million shares. Another energy company hammered by lower commodity prices today.

GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) dropped about 17% on Monday to post a new 52-week low at $15.90 after closing at $19.15 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $69.75. Share volume was more than double the daily average of around 9.5 million. Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock this morning.
