Skechers Tops Friday’s 52-Week Low Club

July 22, 2016: Here are three stocks trading with heavy volume among 13 equities making new 52-week lows in Friday’s session. NYSE advancers led decliners by about 2 to 1 and Nasdaq advancers led decliners by about the same margin.

Skechers U.S.A. Inc. (NYSE: SKX) lost nearly 25% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $24.16 versus a high of $54.53 after closing Thursday at $32.18. Volume totaled nearly 32million shares, about 15 times the daily average of about 2.6 million shares. The shoemaker stubbed its toe when it reported earnings and revenues late Thursday.

Ziopharm Oncology Inc. (NASDAQ: ZIOP) fell by about 3% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $4.46 against a high of $14.93. The stock closed at $4.60 on Thursday night. Volume was about 20% below the stock’s daily average of around 2.6 million. The company had no specific news Friday.

Cameco Corp. (NYSE: CCJ) slipped 2.4% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $10.28 after closing at $10.53 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $14.79. Volume was roughly equal to the daily average of around 1.6 million shares. The Canada-based miner had no specific news, but falling uranium prices have been hard on the share price recently.
