Range Resources, Achillion Pharma Tumble Friday's 52-Week Low Club

December 15, 2017: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 80 equities making new 52-week lows in Friday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by more than 2 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by the same margin.

TrovaGene Inc. (NASDAQ: TROV) dropped about 44% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $0.24 after closing at $0.43 on Thursday. Volume was around 12.5 million, about 20 times the daily average of around 650,000. The firm this morning priced an offering of 15 million shares and warrants to purchase up to another 15 million shares at $0.30 per unit.

Range Resources Corp. (NYSE: RRC) dropped about 4.1% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $15.33 after closing at $15.99 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $36.40. Volume of about 8.5 million was about 15% above the daily average. The increase in natural gas drilling rigs this week is not good for companies like Range Resources that are gas-weighted producers.

Achillion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: ACHN) dropped about 6.9% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $2.69 after closing at $2.89 on Thursday. The 52-week high is $5.66. Volume was around 6.2 million, more than three times the daily average of around 1.9 million. The company had no specific news.

Colony NorthStar Inc. (NYSE: CLNS) posted a new 52-week low of $11.97 Friday, down a penny after closing at $12.08 on Thursday. The 52-week high is $16.08. Volume was about 4 million, more than 50% above the daily average of around 2.6 million shares. The company had no specific news.
