Putting $5,000 into Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO | AVGO Price Prediction) at the model’s reference price of $355.14 a share buys exposure to one of the fastest-growing businesses in large-cap tech.

Broadcom’s AI semiconductor revenue grew 221% year-on-year last quarter. That growth is why its five-year path is worth mapping out. Here is what that stake could be worth by 2031.

Your $5,000 Could Grow to About $8,706.50 by 2031

Under Broadcom’s base scenario, a $5,000 investment could be worth about $8,706.50 by 2031, a total return of 74.13%. That figure rests on a projected five-year share price of $618.42, which works out to 11.73% per year.

Its forecast has a confidence level of 0.9. Over the nearer term, its one-year target is $425.47, or 19.8% upside.

Three Engines Powering Broadcom’s Five-Year Target

Custom AI Chips for the Biggest Buyers

Broadcom designs custom accelerators (XPUs) for hyperscalers and AI labs. Q3 AI semiconductor revenue reached $16.7 billion, and management guided Q4 to $21.7 billion. Management expects AI revenue of about $115 billion in fiscal 2027 and $230 billion in fiscal 2028.

It also said it is “very much on target to exceed $30 in earnings per share in fiscal 2028.” Customers include Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), whose Google unit signed a long-term TPU supply agreement, along with Anthropic, OpenAI and Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META).

Management said Anthropic is on track to become its largest XPU customer in 2027. Recent coverage of Broadcom gathering AI chip funding fits its financing platform with Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO) and Blackstone (NYSE:BX), which is designed to enable more than 20 gigawatts of computing power for OpenAI and Anthropic.

Networking That Grows Alongside the Chips

Broadcom has taped out Tomahawk 7, which it calls the industry’s first 200-terabit-per-second Ethernet switch. Management expects AI networking to grow “just as fast as XPUs over the next few years.“

Software Margins and Cash Flow

VMware-driven infrastructure software brought in $8.8 billion, up 29%, at a 94% gross margin. Free cash flow hit $13.7 billion, or 46% of revenue.

That cash covers a $0.65 quarterly dividend and paid down $5.6 billion of long-term debt in the quarter. Non-GAAP EPS of $3.32 marked a 9th consecutive beat, and the stock trades at about 19 times forward earnings versus a trailing P/E of 44.

What Could Derail the Projection

A few of customers drive most of the AI growth, so one delayed deployment could leave a visible gap in revenue. Hock Tan called land, power and data-center shells “more than a big concern,” saying they determine when capacity gets deployed (the power, cooling and networking suppliers behind that expansion are the subject of a free report on seven AI infrastructure names that aren’t chipmakers).

Supply limits in leading-edge wafers, substrates, HBM memory and optical components could cap growth even when demand is there. Broadcom may also provide “modest residual value guarantees” on AI infrastructure financing. Those are contingent liabilities tied to the health of the AI labs.

Margins face pressure too. Q3 gross margin fell 210 basis points sequentially as XPUs grew as a share of the mix. The company still has $59.6 billion of fixed-rate debt and faces trade-restriction risk. With a beta of 1.46, the stock can swing hard.

Shares have gained just 6.23% over the past year and remain below their 52-week high of $493.28. Strong results alone have not guaranteed a rising share price.

What the Range Means for Your $5,000

Depending on how Broadcom performs, the model puts a $5,000 stake anywhere from $6,334.50 to $12,938.50 by 2031, with $8,706.50 as the most likely outcome.

Projected scenarios may not match actual results. A useful next checkpoint is the fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report on December 9, 2026, which will show whether AI revenue lands near the $21.7 billion guide.
