ACI Worldwide Q3 2026: Revenue Beats, EPS Misses, and Everything Rides on Q4
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
ACI Worldwide's entire full-year outlook now rests on a fourth quarter it guides to $612 million to $642 million in revenue, after license renewals were deliberately pushed out of the third quarter. Adjusted EPS missed expectations while revenue edged past, and management still raised full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance to $550 million to $565 million. Any slip in that renewal slate takes the whole year with it.

ACI Worldwide posted Q3 2026 revenue of $426.8 million, edging past the $421.9 million consensus by about 1.2%, but adjusted diluted EPS of $0.54 fell roughly 11% short of the $0.605 estimate. The gap on the bottom line reflects a deliberate strategic choice: management pushed a significant portion of license renewals out of the third quarter and into the fourth, compressing near-term profitability.
License revenue collapsed to $94.8 million from $162.0 million a year earlier, dragging Payment Software segment revenue down 24% and pulling total revenue 11.5% below its year-ago level. GAAP net income fell to $32.5 million from $91.3 million. Management has explicitly front-loaded the pain, stacking the renewal slate into Q4.
The fourth quarter guidance reflects just how much weight is riding on that renewal slate. ACI guided Q4 2026 revenue to $612 million to $642 million and Q4 adjusted EBITDA to $257 million to $272 million. Full-year revenue guidance was reiterated at $1.895 billion to $1.925 billion, and full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance was raised to $550 million to $565 million from the prior $545 million to $560 million range, a modest upgrade that signals management's confidence has not wavered.

Not everything in the quarter was obscured by renewal timing. Recurring revenue rose 4% to $309 million, SaaS and PaaS fees climbed to $258.3 million from $246.9 million, and operating cash flow for the quarter reached $119.1 million. Net new ARR bookings jumped 86% to $23.6 million, and the Biller segment grew 6%, helped by interchange optimization. ACI also acquired Cranium Ventures to add multi-rail card switching microservices and reported the first customer go-live for its ACI Connetic platform alongside two additional wins.
The company returned approximately $157 million to shareholders through share repurchases year to date at an average price of $45.69, with about $299 million remaining under the existing authorization. With a debt balance of $821 million and new license and services bookings down 21% in the quarter and 22% on a trailing-12-month basis, the pressure on Q4 execution is real. Any slippage in the scheduled renewal slate would put the full-year outlook at risk, making the fourth-quarter close the single most important event for the stock in the near term.
