Advanced Drainage Systems Q2 2027: Earnings Beat, Revenue Miss, Guidance Cut
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
All of the 4.6% sales growth came from the NDS acquisition, with organic stormwater sales down and management cutting the top of its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $3.40 billion from $3.55 billion. Margins are holding, with the Adjusted EBITDA outlook barely trimmed and the dividend raised to $0.20 a share.

Advanced Drainage Systems cleared the profit bar in its fiscal second quarter of 2027, with adjusted EPS of $1.88 coming in 5.2% above the $1.787 consensus estimate. The profit beat, however, was accompanied by a meaningful revenue shortfall: net sales of $889.4 million trailed expectations by 4.4%, even as they grew 4.6% year over year.
Every dollar of the 4.6% year-over-year gain traces back to the National Diversified Sales acquisition, which contributed $77.3 million to Stormwater revenue. Excluding it, organic Stormwater sales fell 5.3% and Wastewater dipped 1.3%. Management pointed to a pull-forward of revenue into the first quarter, larger than expected and now estimated at $40 to $50 million versus the roughly $30 million previously anticipated, as a meaningful driver of the Q2 shortfall.
ADS trimmed its fiscal 2027 net sales range to $3.30 to $3.40 billion from a prior range of $3.35 to $3.55 billion, citing higher interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty as demand headwinds. CEO Scott Barbour noted that lower-than-expected inflationary pressure on materials also reduced the need for previously planned pricing actions, which contributed to the lower revenue outlook. Profitability held up better: Adjusted EBITDA guidance was barely touched, moving to $1.00 to $1.03 billion from $1.00 to $1.05 billion, and the Adjusted EBITDA margin target remains above 30%.

Capital allocation continued alongside the softer results. The company raised its quarterly dividend 11% to $0.20 per share, and separately disclosed a $530 million proposed acquisition of StormTrap, a maker of large-volume, space-constrained engineered stormwater solutions, expected to close in calendar Q4 2026. Management described StormTrap as complementary to ADS's specification-driven commercial model, with cross-selling opportunities in non-residential and infrastructure markets.
Looking at the recent earnings track record, ADS has beaten EPS estimates in six of the past eight quarters, including four consecutive beats heading into this report. The two misses, in Q3 and Q4 of fiscal 2025, saw reported EPS come in below estimates of $1.23 and $1.09 respectively. The streak of beats since then, combined with today's profit outperformance, suggests cost and margin discipline is holding even as the volume environment becomes more challenging heading into the second half of fiscal 2027.
