Altria posted Q3 2026 adjusted EPS of $1.52, beating expectations, with revenue of $5.44 billion also ahead of estimates. The composition of those beats matters more than the headline numbers.

A surge in equity income from AB InBev drove much of the gain, rising to $228 million from $123 million a year earlier. Without that contribution, the underlying operating story would have looked considerably thinner.

Inside the business, Marlboro's retail share dropped 1.0 point to 39.5%, while domestic cigarette shipments and on! pouch share both declined. Oral tobacco adjusted operating income fell as well, weighed down by lower volume, higher costs, and stepped-up promotional spending.

Against that backdrop, management raised full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guidance to $5.66 to $5.74. The board also authorized a $1 billion expansion of the share repurchase program, and Altria announced its 61st dividend increase in 57 years.

What to watch: whether the ABI equity income tailwind persists, and whether on! PLUS, now expanded nationwide with new flavor extensions, can claw back pouch share. NJOY ACE remains excluded from the U.S. market, leaving a gap in Altria's e-vapor strategy that guidance already accounts for.
