América Móvil reported Q2 2026 earnings per share of $0.47, coming in roughly 9% below the consensus estimate of $0.52. Revenue of $241.1 billion (in local currency terms) also fell just short of the $241.9 billion analysts had expected, a miss of about a third of a percent. Two distinct headwinds drove the shortfall: a 12.3% strengthening of the Mexican peso against the dollar, which translates local earnings into fewer dollars on a reported basis, and a regulatory fine levied on its Telmex subsidiary that further compressed results.
The earnings miss continues a pattern of pressure visible in AMX's recent history. The company has now come in below estimates in four of the last five quarters, following a rare beat in Q1 2026 when it reported $0.44 against a $0.349 estimate. The streak of misses underscores how currency volatility and domestic regulatory costs remain persistent wildcards for a company that generates the bulk of its revenue across Latin America.

Despite the headline miss, América Móvil added 3.5 million postpaid subscribers in the quarter, a sign that underlying demand for its services remains intact. Management is also pushing ahead with its pending acquisition of WOW Peru, a deal intended to accelerate the company's fiber network expansion in the region. Investors will be watching whether that growth in subscribers and the fiber buildout can eventually offset the currency and regulatory drags that have weighed on reported earnings.
