Appian posted adjusted non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.51 for the third quarter of 2026, beating the Wall Street consensus of $0.33 by 53.48%. That marked the fifth consecutive quarter in which the low-code automation platform provider has topped analyst EPS estimates, a streak that carries real weight given how often enterprise software companies have disappointed over that same stretch.

Revenue of $234.63 million came in 8.15% above expectations and grew 25.5% year over year. The growth was driven heavily by subscriptions, with total subscriptions revenue climbing 28% to $187.75 million and cloud subscriptions specifically rising 20% to $136.40 million. Professional services added another $46.88 million, up 18% year over year.

The standout operating metric is the cloud net annual recurring revenue expansion rate of 120% as of September 30, 2026. A rate above 100% means existing customers are spending more on the platform than they were a year ago, so Appian's subscription base is growing even before counting a single new logo. That kind of retention-driven momentum is what tends to compress the sales cost needed to sustain top-line growth.

On the bottom line, GAAP net income reached $12.34 million despite $4.66 million in ongoing Pegasystems litigation costs and foreign exchange losses. Operating income rose 62% year over year to $21.3 million. Cash and equivalents declined to $47.3 million from $135.8 million at year-end, and operating cash flow was negative $15.4 million for the quarter, two figures worth monitoring heading into Q4.

For the fourth quarter, Appian guided total revenue to $233 million to $237 million, representing 15% to 17% growth year over year, with cloud subscriptions expected at $143 million to $145 million. The company set full-year 2026 total revenue guidance at $873 million to $877 million, implying 20% to 21% growth for the year, with non-GAAP EPS of $1.20 to $1.24.
