Avient posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.86 for the third quarter of 2026, beating the consensus estimate of $0.80 and marking the fifth consecutive quarter the specialty polymer maker has exceeded expectations. Revenue of $891.2 million also topped estimates and grew from the same period a year earlier, with organic sales rising after stripping out a small negative currency impact.

CEO Mike Frank credited broad-based demand across packaging, healthcare, and building and construction, alongside pricing discipline and new business wins in the company's higher-margin growth vector technologies. Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 17.3%, with both the Color, Additives and Inks segment and the Specialty Engineered Materials segment contributing organic sales growth in the quarter.

Management lifted full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $3.22 to $3.32, up from the prior range of $3.10 to $3.25, representing 14% to 18% growth over the prior year. Full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance was narrowed to $593 to $603 million, and the company expects to end the year with a net debt to adjusted EBITDA leverage ratio of 2.2x to 2.3x.

Capital allocation is shifting as the balance sheet improves. Avient repaid $50 million of debt in the quarter, bringing year-to-date 2026 debt reduction to $100 million. After the quarter closed, the company repurchased 281,000 shares for approximately $10.9 million, its first share buybacks since 2022, signaling management's confidence that the balance sheet has reached a point where returning cash to shareholders is back on the table.

The quarterly dividend was also nudged higher, to $0.2750 per share from $0.2700 in the year-ago quarter. With a streak of beats, a raised guidance range, renewed buybacks, and ongoing debt reduction, the picture management is presenting is one of a business gaining operating momentum while simultaneously regaining financial flexibility.
