Boeing's Q3 2026 revenue of $24.19 billion cleared estimates, but the commercial airplanes segment logged a $697 million operating loss and the adjusted core loss per share came in at $0.34, missing expectations.
The commercial division ran an operating margin of negative 6.5%, meaning every dollar of revenue in that segment still costs more to produce than it brings in. Defense held steadier, providing a partial offset but not enough to lift the overall earnings picture.

Free cash flow came in at $464 million for the quarter, which investors will read carefully as a signal of whether the business is stabilizing. Positive free cash flow matters here because it suggests Boeing is at least generating real cash even while reporting operating losses at its core commercial unit.
Analysts expected a narrower loss, and the turnaround remains in progress. Until commercial airplanes narrows its operating loss materially, the earnings line stays a drag worth monitoring each quarter.
