Bank of Marin Q3 2026: Margin Drives an EPS Beat, but Credit Quality Slips
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on October 26, 2026.
Margin is carrying this bank: net interest margin widened 10 basis points to 3.48%, lifting earnings past consensus even with revenue fractionally short. The catch is credit, with classified loans jumping to 1.63% of total loans from 0.95% on a single $14.1 million owner-occupied CRE downgrade.

Bank of Marin posted Q3 2026 earnings per share of $0.62, beating expectations, while revenue came in fractionally below forecast. Net income climbed to $9.93 million from $7.53 million a year ago, even as total revenue fell.
Net interest margin expansion drove the profit improvement, with tax-equivalent NIM widening 10 basis points sequentially to 3.48% as new loans priced above payoffs. Lower non-interest expense produced the bottom-line beat despite the slight revenue miss.
Classified loans jumped to 1.63% of total loans from 0.95% the prior quarter, entirely the result of a single owner-occupied commercial real estate loan being downgraded, and non-accrual loans ticked up as well. One loan drove the move, but it is the kind of concentration risk that investors in a community bank of this size monitor closely.

Noninterest-bearing deposits reached 37.8% of the deposit base, a structural advantage that helped lower the cost of deposits. Total loans grew to $2.14 billion, aided by organic originations and a California residential mortgage pool purchase, and CEO Tim Myers highlighted that year-to-date total loan commitments rose 21% over the prior year.
Management expects modest additional NIM expansion as legacy loans continue repricing at higher rates, and updated business deposit account pricing effective July 1 annualizes at roughly $1 million in additional service charge income. The board declared a $0.25 quarterly dividend, the 86th consecutive such payment.
