Gross margin hit 19.3%, the best in five years, but the loss still came in missing expectations and management would only guide one quarter out: $54 million to $59 million in Q4 revenue, below what it just reported. With negative shareholders' equity, the cost cuts are racing the balance sheet.

Beyond Meat reported Q3 2026 net revenues of $64.53 million, edging 0.83% above the $64 million consensus, but the adjusted loss of $2.21 per share came in missing expectations. The GAAP loss was steeper still at $4.32 per share, weighed down by a $57.1 million non-cash impairment of long-lived assets and $20.8 million in accelerated rent expense tied to a partial lease termination at its El Segundo headquarters.

Gross margin expanded to 19.3%, the best in five years, up from 7.4% a year earlier. That improvement came from a 10.1% decrease in cost of goods sold per pound, driven by lower manufacturing, inventory provision, and logistics expenses. It is a meaningful structural shift, but it is happening against a backdrop of shrinking volume: total products sold fell 10.9% year over year.

The revenue picture by segment is uneven. U.S. retail fell 13.2% and U.S. foodservice dropped 9.7%, pressured by reduced points of distribution and weak category demand. International retail was the lone bright spot, growing 13.3% and posting its third consecutive quarter of gains, led by Europe. International foodservice, however, contracted 19.4%, largely on lower burger sales to quick-service restaurant customers.

Management limited forward guidance to a single quarter, projecting Q4 2026 revenues of $54 million to $59 million, below the $64.53 million just reported. That sequential step-down comes alongside negative shareholders' equity of $6.6 million and $14.5 million in 2027 notes maturing in March, even as cost cuts and margin gains take hold.

The EPS history over the prior several quarters had shown a narrowing loss trend, with reported figures of $-0.10 in Q1 2026 and $-0.09 in Q2 2026, making the $-2.21 reported this quarter a sharp reversal in the headline number. Much of that gap is explained by the non-cash charges excluded from the adjusted figure, but material weaknesses in internal controls and the risk of Nasdaq delisting are listed by the company itself among active concerns for the period ahead.
