Bitcoin closed at $78,325.54 on August 21, rising 7.28% in a single day after an extended stretch pinned in the $60,000s.

The length of the consolidation matters as much as the gain itself. Extended sideways trading compresses volatility and bleeds out momentum, so a clean directional move out of that zone carries more informational weight than the same percentage gain in an already-trending market.

Bitcoin traded into the low $120,000s earlier in this data window before a prolonged drawdown dragged it into the $60,000 range, so a meaningful gap remains to those prior highs. That leaves room to continue before the price runs into heavy supply from that earlier period.

The immediate question is whether this level holds on any pullback, since breakouts following long consolidations frequently retest the breakout zone before continuing. Subsequent closes near or above current levels would strengthen the case that the range is broken.
