A single design win with Coretura, the Volvo Group and Daimler Truck venture, just added over $100 million to the QNX royalty backlog, and management raised full-year FY2027 revenue guidance to $616 million to $636 million on the back of it. The sixth straight beat in a row now comes with visible future revenue attached.

BlackBerry posted adjusted EPS of $0.07 for Q2 FY2027, beating expectations, with revenue of $163.3 million also topping estimates. That makes six consecutive quarters of topping expectations, and this one came with a material catalyst attached.

The headline event is a design win with Coretura, the joint venture formed by Volvo Group and Daimler Truck, which selected the QNX-based Alloy Kore platform for next-generation commercial trucks. CEO John Giamatteo described it as the largest design win in QNX history, and it added over $100 million to the QNX royalty backlog in a single stroke. QNX itself delivered record quarterly revenue of $80.3 million, up 27% year-over-year, on an 87% adjusted gross margin.

Adjusted EBITDA reached $47 million, up 81% year-over-year, with operating cash flow and free cash flow both improving sharply from the prior-year period.

Management responded by raising full-year FY2027 revenue guidance to $616 million to $636 million, along with its adjusted EBITDA and Q3 revenue outlook. The raised outlook is grounded in a backlog that already has the Coretura win baked in.

Beyond automotive, BlackBerry flagged expanding QNX adoption into General Embedded Markets and Physical AI, with Momenta and XHEART selecting QNX OS for Safety on SDP 8.0 for an autonomous-driving platform certified to ISO 26262 ASIL D. Investors watching the stock will want to track whether these newer verticals can begin to show up in segment revenue the way the core automotive business has over the past six quarters.
