A streak of beats that stretched through much of 2025 has ended, with Brown & Brown missing expectations on both the top and bottom lines in Q3 2026 on adjusted diluted EPS of $1.07.

The headline growth number flatters the underlying picture, because organic revenue grew just 1.2% and the Accession acquisition is carrying nearly all of the year-over-year gain. That leaves the expansion story dependent on deal activity rather than pricing momentum in the open market.

The cost of integrating that deal is still showing up clearly in the margin line, with adjusted EBITDAC margin compressed 200 basis points to 34.6%. Acquisition and integration costs plus a workforce enlarged by the Accession addition have not yet been fully optimized.

A softening insurance rate environment is compounding the integration headwind. When rates ease, brokers earn less on renewals without adding new business, which tightens the ceiling on organic growth regardless of how well the sales force executes. CEO J. Powell Brown acknowledged the backdrop directly, noting the quarter reflected teammates winning more customers despite a challenging rate environment.

Investors will be watching whether integration costs begin to taper in coming quarters and whether organic growth can reaccelerate as the Accession deal reaches a more mature phase. The company repurchased $750 million of treasury stock in the nine months ended September 30, 2026, signaling confidence in the longer-term outlook even as near-term margin pressure persists.
