Profitability is carrying this quarter for CACI International: adjusted diluted EPS of $7.66 for fiscal first quarter 2027 beat expectations, while revenue grew year over year yet came in below estimates.
Margin expansion is doing the work, with the EBITDA margin reaching 13.3% from 11.7% a year ago. That reflects CACI's deliberate move toward higher-value technology and defense work, as its Technology segment outgrew the Expertise segment.
The demand picture looks durable, with contract awards producing a 2.0x book-to-bill ratio and most of that business newly won. Funded backlog grew to $6.20 billion and Department of Defense revenue rose to more than half of total revenue, underscoring how deeply CACI is aligned with national security spending priorities.
Notable wins in the quarter included a $1.6 billion SOFETOPS 2 task order for U.S. Army Special Operations Command, a USCENTCOM award built around the Apollo platform, and a Navy electromagnetic warfare capabilities task order. CACI also opened a new Manufacturing Center of Excellence for Defense Electronics in Greater Rochester, NY, expanding its manufacturing footprint for electronic warfare development and delivery.
Management responded to the strong quarter by raising full-year revenue and adjusted diluted EPS guidance for FY2027. Free cash flow guidance was reaffirmed at a minimum of $900 million, with CEO John Mengucci citing a large and growing backlog and a healthy pipeline as the basis for the raised outlook.
