Coinbase's GAAP diluted EPS of $2.51 beat the consensus estimate, but $715 million in mark-to-market gains on crypto assets held for investment drove almost all of it. Adjusted net income was $77.7 million.

Revenue of $1.22 billion came in missing expectations and fell roughly 35% year over year as crypto asset volatility sat at multi-year lows. With fewer traders active, transaction revenue fell well short of what a more volatile market would have delivered.

Subscription and services revenue rose 3% to $570 million, anchored by stablecoin revenue on record average USDC balances. Coinbase also posted its fourth consecutive quarter of crypto spot trading market share gains.

For Q4, Coinbase guided subscription and services revenue of $550 million to $630 million and trimmed its full-year adjusted expense outlook. The key variable is whether the completed INTX and Deribit integration settles without further volume disruption.
