Constellation Energy (CEG) Q2 2026: EPS Beat, Guidance Raised on Nuclear Deals
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on August 6, 2026.
Management raised full-year adjusted earnings guidance to $11.50 to $12.50 per share from $11.00 to $12.00, alongside an EPS beat with revenue missing expectations. The Calpine close, higher capacity revenue and 920 MW of newly signed long-term nuclear PPAs are doing the work. Next watchpoint: PJM's large-load interconnection rules in the second half of 2026.

Constellation Energy reported second-quarter 2026 earnings per share of $2.55, clearing the consensus estimate of $2.33 by roughly 10%. Revenue came in at $7.5 billion, about 2.6% short of the $7.7 billion Wall Street had penciled in, making this a classic beat-on-the-bottom-line, miss-on-the-top-line quarter. The EPS result continues a mostly consistent pattern of positive surprises — the company has beaten estimates in six of the last eight quarters shown in its earnings history.
The stronger profit picture gave management enough confidence to lift full-year adjusted earnings guidance to a range of $11.50 to $12.50 per share, up from the prior range of $11.00 to $12.00. Three drivers are doing the heavy lifting: the close of the Calpine acquisition, higher capacity revenue, and 920 megawatts of newly signed long-term nuclear power purchase agreements that lock in future cash flows from the company's nuclear fleet.

The key variable to monitor heading into the back half of 2026 is PJM's rulemaking around large-load interconnection. Those rules will shape how quickly data centers and other power-hungry customers can get connected to the grid, which directly affects demand for the kind of always-on, carbon-free nuclear power that Constellation supplies under its long-term PPA contracts.
