Tooling project revenue of $25.4 million, up from $4.3 million a year ago, powered a quarter that beat expectations on both lines. Core Molding Technologies posted adjusted diluted earnings of $0.33 per share in the third quarter of 2026, far exceeding expectations, with revenue also beating estimates.

Tooling project revenue jumped to $25.4 million as customers ramp new production programs, pulling total revenue above what analysts had modeled. Production revenue rose as well on stronger medium and heavy-duty truck demand.

Gross margin compressed to 14.8% because tooling work carries lower margins than production revenue, and the quarter absorbed commissioning charges tied to the new Monterrey facility and higher raw material costs.

Management reaffirmed full-year 2026 guidance, and the two 4,500-ton presses in Matamoros remain on track to come online by year-end, relieving the capacity constraint on growth. CEO Eric Palomaki said the company has secured approximately $30 million in new business awards this year and sees a path to approximately $50 million through six late-stage pipeline projects, including a battery energy storage award.
