Cullen/Frost Bankers posted Q2 2026 earnings per share of $2.70, clearing the consensus estimate of $2.57 by roughly 5.2%. The beat was driven by widening net interest margins and loan growth of 7.4%, continuing a streak of earnings surprises that stretches back through every quarter visible in the company's recent history — the bank has beaten EPS estimates in each of the past eight reported periods.

On the revenue side, the picture was more mixed. Cullen/Frost brought in $576.0 million, falling about 1.7% short of the $586.2 million analysts had expected. That shortfall came even as the Texas-focused bank pressed ahead with an active expansion in its home market, opening seven new locations in the Dallas and Austin areas so far this year.

Investors will want to watch whether the branch build-out begins to show up more clearly in revenue in coming quarters, and whether the margin tailwind that lifted EPS this period proves durable as interest rate conditions evolve.
