Dentsply Sirona XRAY Q3 2026: Misses, Zero Free Cash Flow, and a Flattering Accounting Benefit
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
Free cash flow went to zero from $40 million a year ago, and the quarter looks better than it was: a non-recurring inventory accounting benefit added roughly $30 million to adjusted net income. Orthodontic and Implant Solutions fell 16.6%, and full-year guidance now sits at adjusted EPS of $1.20 to $1.30.

Dentsply Sirona missed on both the top and bottom lines in Q3 2026, with adjusted EPS of $0.29 falling short of the $0.31 consensus and net sales of $836 million trailing the $861.65 million analyst forecast by about 3%. Revenue declined 7.5% from a year ago, reflecting persistent pressure across most of its dental product segments.
The headline numbers carry a significant caveat: a non-recurring inventory accounting adjustment added a $39 million benefit to gross profit and adjusted EBITDA, lifting adjusted net income by roughly $30 million. Strip that out and the underlying operating performance was materially weaker than the reported figures suggest. GAAP net income came in at a loss of $2 million for the quarter.

The weakest spot was Orthodontic and Implant Solutions, where sales fell 16.6%, with the Americas region down 22.9%. Connected Technology Solutions dropped 11%, also dragged by steep Americas declines. The one bright spot was Wellspect Healthcare, which posted record quarterly sales with 10.1% growth. Free cash flow fell to zero from $40 million in the same quarter a year earlier, and cash and equivalents stood at $195 million, down sharply from $326 million at year-end 2025.
Management updated its full-year 2026 outlook to approximately $3.5 billion in net sales and adjusted EPS of $1.20 to $1.30, excluding a separate $0.17 one-time benefit from tariff refunds. CEO Dan Scavilla pointed to the Return-to-Growth Action Plan and cited encouraging progress in implants, endodontics, and an expanded U.S. dealer network. With the inventory accounting tailwind now explicitly flagged as non-recurring, investors will be watching whether the underlying business can hold up in Q4 without that buffer.
