Ethereum closed August 19 at $2,251.69, snapping back above the $2,000 threshold that had acted as a ceiling through much of the spring and summer.

Ethereum had spent weeks grinding lower from levels above $4,000 earlier in the year before a series of partial recoveries that repeatedly stalled, making Tuesday's close the strongest single-day read in that entire stretch.

The $1,916.72 prior close is now the line bulls need to defend on any pullback. Losing it again would put Ethereum back in the range it just escaped, which spent months failing to generate any sustained upward momentum. Holding it converts a prior resistance zone into a support floor.

The session does not yet confirm whether the move marks a durable trend change or an oversized single-day correction within a longer downtrend, since the rally arrived without the consolidation that typically underpins a sustained recovery. Follow-through over the next several sessions is the critical variable to watch.
