Fidelity National Financial Q3 2026: What Drove the Miss on Both Lines
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
The F&G stake drop to roughly 72% from 82% cut that unit's adjusted contribution to $72 million from $139 million, a miss on both lines. Title held up, with commercial revenue up 19% to $463 million. Management offered no formal guidance ahead of Friday's 11:00 AM ET call.

Fidelity National Financial reported adjusted EPS of $1.32 for the third quarter of 2026, in line with the $1.32 consensus estimate but a step down from the $1.63 it earned in the same period a year ago. Revenue came in at $3.58 billion, missing the $3.78 billion analyst expectation and falling roughly 9% year over year. GAAP accounting and the adjusted results diverged sharply this quarter.
The single biggest drag on adjusted earnings was FNF's reduced ownership stake in F&G Annuities and Life. Following a year-end stock distribution, that stake fell to roughly 72% from 82%, which cut F&G's adjusted earnings contribution nearly in half, from $139 million to $72 million. On top of that, F&G's alternative investment income came in $43 million below management's own long-term expected return, compounding the shortfall at that unit.
In the title segment, commercial revenue climbed 19% to $463 million, and total fee per file rose 6% to $4,229. CEO Mike Nolan noted that the Title business generated adjusted pre-tax title earnings of $422 million at an industry-leading adjusted pre-tax title margin of 17.1%, calling it a reflection of disciplined operating strategy and the ability to consistently outperform the broader market.

GAAP net income rose to $633 million from $358 million in the prior year period, lifted by $652 million in market-related liability adjustments and $122 million in net recognized gains at F&G. That divergence between GAAP and adjusted results is worth keeping in mind: the favorable mark-to-market items boosted the statutory bottom line substantially but are excluded from the adjusted figures that analysts and management use to evaluate underlying business performance.
Recent EPS history shows a pattern of inconsistency. FNF beat estimates in Q4 2024, Q3 2025, and Q2 2026, but missed in Q1 2025, Q2 2025, Q4 2025, Q1 2026, and now Q3 2026. Management offered no formal guidance for the coming quarter, with an earnings call scheduled for Friday, November 6 at 11:00 AM ET where investors will press for more clarity on the trajectory of F&G's contribution and the pace of its shift toward a more fee-based model.
