FIS Q3 2026: Thin Beat, Big Debt Load, and Buybacks on Hold
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 4, 2026.
Shareholders are funding the Total Issuing Solutions deal with $20.8 billion of total debt, and buybacks stay curtailed until gross leverage falls to about 2.8x. The beat on both lines does not change that.

Fidelity National Information Services posted adjusted EPS of $1.61 for the third quarter of 2026, beating the consensus estimate of $1.60. Revenue of $3.45 billion also cleared the $3.43 billion estimate, rising 17.7% year over year. Both beats were narrow.
The headline growth number is almost entirely a function of the Total Issuing Solutions acquisition, now branded FIS Total Issuing Solutions, which drove Banking Solutions revenue up 41% to $2.55 billion. Capital Market Solutions, the other major reporting segment, grew a more modest 3% to $823 million. Strip out the acquisition effect and the organic picture is considerably quieter, with pro forma revenue growth coming in at 3.7%.
The deal reshaped the balance sheet in ways that will dominate the investment story for several quarters. Total debt stands at $20.8 billion, and net interest expense more than doubled to $199 million from $90 million a year earlier. Management has explicitly curtailed share repurchases until gross leverage falls to roughly 2.8x, meaning capital return is effectively off the table for now.

Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 111 basis points to 42.9%, reflecting a favorable revenue mix shift from the acquired business and cost savings. FIS also maintained its full-year free cash flow target of $2.15 billion to $2.25 billion and guided full-year adjusted EPS of $5.82 to $5.89. The company divested a non-core prepaid business on October 20, 2026, for gross proceeds of over $100 million, a small step in the broader portfolio cleanup.
The EPS history shows a broadly consistent pattern of meeting or narrowly beating estimates going back to Q4 2024, with Q1 2026 standing out as the clearest upside surprise at $1.36 reported against a $1.28 estimate. Q3 2026 continues that trend, but the beat is thin enough that the debt trajectory and the pace of deleveraging remain the more consequential variables for investors to monitor.
