Genius Sports posted third-quarter 2026 revenue of $269.9 million, exceeding expectations against the $261.2 million consensus and representing 62.3% growth year over year. The company's April 2026 acquisition of Zeal Limited, the digital sports and gaming media network behind Covers.com and Casino.org, was the primary driver, lifting Media Technology, Content and Services revenue 126% to $116.9 million. Betting Technology, Content and Services also grew 33.4% to $153.0 million, supported by price increases at contract renewals and expanded value-add services.

Genius reported a GAAP loss of $0.06 per share, missing expectations against a consensus estimate of $0.20. The gap reflects the carrying cost of the Legend deal: $19.1 million of net interest expense on acquisition financing and $16.1 million in litigation and related costs, including a provision tied to the Sportscastr settlement, weighed heavily on a company with a $1.9 billion market cap. Those charges are recurring, and they help explain why the company has now missed GAAP EPS estimates in six of the last eight quarters.

The cash flow picture is more encouraging. Free cash flow came in at $53.6 million for the quarter, with operating cash flow of $79.4 million, a 191.75% improvement year over year. Management is guiding to a year-end cash balance of roughly $260 million, implying meaningful free cash flow generation in the fourth quarter. Adjusted EBITDA of $87.1 million carried a 32.3% margin, up sharply from 20.4% in the same period a year ago.

On the strength of the quarter, Genius raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $1.015 billion to $1.035 billion, up from $1.005 billion to $1.025 billion previously. Full-year Adjusted EBITDA guidance was also lifted to $287 million to $297 million, implying a 28.5% margin at the midpoint. The NFL license agreement has been extended through the end of the 2029 season, and new partnerships with Polymarket and Kalshi position the company in the fast-growing prediction markets category.

The risks are real and bear watching. Total liabilities have risen 354% year over year to $1.48 billion, anchored by an $825 million term loan. The contingent earn-out liability tied to the Legend acquisition stands at $215.2 million and is subject to fair value remeasurement each quarter. The number of events covered under official rights also declined, from 206,029 to 197,662, and exclusive events fell from 118,758 to 104,803, a trend worth monitoring as the company relies on proprietary data access as a core competitive advantage.
