Goodyear Tire (GT) Q2 2026: Revenue Beats but Losses Deepen
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on August 5, 2026.
Destocking is easing: tire unit volume fell 4.0% after a 12.0% drop in Q1, with both lines beating expectations. The whole case now rests on the Fayetteville plant closure delivering roughly $270 million in annual segment income improvement from 2028.

Goodyear posted a Q2 2026 loss of $0.61 per share against an estimate of roughly negative $0.62, a beat of about 2.8%. Revenue came in at $4.3 billion, clearing the $4.1 billion consensus by nearly 4.7%. The top-line strength is a meaningful signal given how much pressure the company has faced over the past year, including a steep Q2 2025 miss when reported EPS of negative $0.17 came in far below the $0.37 expectation.
The more encouraging detail is in the volume trend. Tire unit volumes fell 4.0% in the quarter, a notable improvement from the 12.0% drop in Q1 2026, and both business lines beat expectations. That sequential easing suggests the destocking cycle that has weighed on the industry may be running its course, even as Goodyear's per-share losses are still widening year over year.

The longer-term investment case now pivots heavily on the planned closure of the Fayetteville plant, which management expects to deliver roughly $270 million in annual segment income improvement starting in 2028. Until that benefit materializes, the quarterly results are likely to remain volatile, and the gap between current losses and that future payoff is the central question investors will be watching.
