The Hang Seng opened at 3,176.77 on Monday morning, essentially unchanged from Friday's close. That gap of less than a point reflects a market that has fully digested last week's moves and is now in a deliberate holding pattern.
The SSE Composite in Shanghai is mirroring that stillness. When two of Asia's largest equity markets open in near-perfect lockstep with their prior closes, it signals that no major overnight development changed the calculus for traders on either side of the border.
