The Hang Seng opened Monday at 2,944.57, a gap from Friday's close so thin it rounds to zero. Stillness at the open can be deceptive here.

Mainland funds are rotating out of Hong Kong-listed names and into tech, a shift in capital flows that matters even when the headline number looks calm. Rotation does not need a falling index to hurt the names being sold.

After trading above 3,100 earlier in the recent run, the Hang Seng has given back a meaningful portion of those gains, sliding into the mid-2,900s by last Friday. Monday's flat open lands near the low end of that range.

The next catalyst the market is watching is whether Beijing delivers fresh stimulus beyond what is already reflected in prices. If the measures that follow are incremental rather than substantive, there is little obvious fuel to push the index back toward the highs it posted just weeks ago.
