The sixth straight consensus beat came with non-GAAP operating margin widening to 22.6% from 19.9%, but guidance is the real story: Q4 revenue growth slows to 12% and a restructuring plan carries $65 million to $75 million in charges. Keep an eye on the stock as investors decide whether the margin story outweighs decelerating growth.

HubSpot's third quarter marked its sixth consecutive period of beating the Wall Street EPS consensus, with non-GAAP earnings of $3.81 per share topping the $3.27 estimate. Revenue of $947.6 million also came in above the $925.5 million consensus, rising 17% year over year. Profitability is where the quarter stands out.

Non-GAAP operating margin widened to 22.6% from 19.9% a year earlier, a meaningful step forward even as HubSpot accelerated investment in what CEO Yamini Rangan calls the 'Outcomes Era.' The company is repositioning around AI agents designed to deliver end-to-end business results. Rangan described the shift plainly: 'AI is fundamentally changing software, from tools that help people do work to agents that do the work and deliver outcomes.'

The subscription segment, which accounts for the overwhelming majority of revenue, grew 18% and drove the top-line beat. HubSpot's customer base expanded 12%, while average subscription revenue per customer rose 4%. Calculated billings climbed 15%, and the company repurchased common stock during the quarter, reducing its diluted share count.

Guidance is where investors will have more to weigh. HubSpot guided Q4 revenue of $945 million to $947 million, implying growth of just 12%, a noticeable deceleration from Q3's 17% pace. At the same time, management announced a restructuring plan expected to generate $65 million to $75 million in charges, mostly in Q4, as the company reshapes its operations for the AI transition. Those charges are excluded from non-GAAP guidance.

The setup heading into Q4 puts two competing narratives in front of investors: a margin expansion story that has now run for multiple quarters, and a revenue growth rate that is visibly slowing as HubSpot retools its pricing, packaging, and go-to-market approach for AI. A recent analyst downgrade had already flagged uneven small and medium-sized business demand and uncertainty around AI monetization as near-term risks, so the deceleration in the Q4 outlook is unlikely to come as a complete surprise.
