Icahn Enterprises posted Q3 2026 revenue of $3.17 billion, clearing consensus, yet $522 million in refining hedge losses swung the partnership to a net loss of $225 million. The revenue beat bought nothing.

The bottom-line damage translated to a loss of $0.31 per unit, missing expectations. Profitable quarters have been rare across the last nine, and the two positive ones also missed their estimates.

Beyond the hedge losses, the quarter absorbed a $165 million impairment charge, only partly offset by a gain on asset dispositions tied to the August sale of Pep Boys. Shareholders' equity now stands at $746 million, down 72.72% year over year.

The $0.50 quarterly distribution, the 86th consecutive, was declared with a record date of November 16 and a payment date of December 23, 2026, with the default election being additional depositary units rather than cash. That steady payout now rests on an equity base that has contracted sharply, making the durability of the distribution a central question for unitholders.

CVR Energy's pending $4.2 billion acquisition of two refineries and a marketing platform from Marathon Petroleum is the forward-looking item that matters. Management projects the deal lifts CVR's pro forma EPS to $7.80 for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, from $3.73 stand-alone. Closing speed and refining margins decide whether the losses stop.
